Three Gorges Reservoir is the largest hydraulic engineering in the world.Its long-term stable operation plays a great role in cross-straits economic development and social harmony.Since the 12 th Five-Year Plan,China has been devoted to the development of the Yangtze golden waterway,which brings unprecedented opportunities to the Yangtze river transportation.However,since Three Gorges Reservoir started to run and store water,phenomena such as sediment accumulation,reduction of storage capacity and the raise of flood level have appeared.Consequently,they influence the ship navigation and ports along the line.Therefore,reservoir erosion and deposition must be calculated.In hydraulic engineering,numerical simulation is an important means to study the water flow sediment movement.But mathematical model also has its disadvantages such as its unintuitive expression and complicated data processing.How to demonstrate the result of numerical simulation in a friendly and open interface with a vivid demonstration effect will be a crucial research orientation.Scientific visualization can well solve these problems.In this thesis,mixed programming with Fortran and VB is used to study and develop the visual integration system to calculate sediment erosion and deposition in Three Gorges Reservoir.The paper also includes relevant research about the post-processing of mathematical model.The major research contents and results are as follows:Collecting water sediment data from the beginning of water storage in Three Gorges Reservoir till now to analyze the features and distribution of sediment accumulation in Three Gorges Reservoir area.Introducing the calculation principles of two-dimensional water and sediment mathematical model as well as verifying the mathematical model with practical engineering.Breaking through the communication and interface problems between different programming languages and different application software;developing an integration system of sediment accumulation in Three Gorges Reservoir area,which has menus and toolbars in Windows style,as well as simple operation,friendly interface and a high degree of visualization.Using the developed two-dimensional visualization system of sediment erosion and deposition calculation to draw the water surface profile,talweg,cross section etc.in Three Gorges Reservoir area and the sediment distribution and flow filed chart in typical river channel-Huanghua city river channel.
