As an important component of road environment in road traffic system, road landscape has a great effect on traffic safety. In order to solve problems exist in current road landscape design, such as out-dated presentations, distorted dynamic experience and lack of quantitative evaluations, a driving simulation experiment combined with oral question-answering was designed to study the correlation between driving behavior, eye movements and levels of road landscape factors.ANOVA was used to research on whether different levels of different road landscape factors will affect driving behavior. Principal Component Analysis(PCA) was used to integrate standard deviations of speed, longitudinal acceleration, lateral position, lateral acceleration and steering to an indicator of driving stability, drivers' driving stabilities under different levels of road landscape factors were compared quantitatively. Different levels of road landscape factors' effects on drivers' speed and amount of processing information, mental state were analyzed using eye movements data. Considering drivers' oral answer, landscape factors such as color, plant spacing, crown diameter, height and margin indeed affect drivers' driving behavior and their feelings about the road landscape. Road landscape's stimulus intensity is weak or frequency is low is easy to cause drivers' control of speed and lateral position weakened. Stimulus intensity is strong or frequency is high is easy to cause higher vision load and psychological stress. Both two kinds of design would lead to decline of driving stability. Comparing the two kinds of drivers, skilled drivers' choices of driving behavior and eye movements are more based on road safety in different road landscape. However, unskilled driver are more susceptible to euphoropsia and psychological pressure which road landscapes bring to them.According to the analysis of experimental data, risks of traffic safety resulted from unreasonable road landscape design are cleared, issues worth paying attention to in road landscape design are proposed. It has some reference value to ensure that landscape scale designed to ensure traffic safety, enhance the scientificalness of road landscape planning, design and evaluation processes.
