There is a considerable part of the building in China which were built in the last century. Some of them are at the end of the service period,meanwhile, the seismic and structural requirements in the design and construction stage were not considered in the other part; Nowadays, The trend of the architecture in most of the developed world are turning to "The new large-scale construction stage" and "new construction and reinforcement stage"; The seismic performance of the structure is decreased continuously due to the influence of natural environment and human activities, so we need to test and repair this type of building structure. in this paper, a reinforced concrete frame structure was identified and reinforced combining with the practical engineering, and a series of research work has been done:(1)Collect and analyze the damage conditions of the reinforced concrete structure houses in the earthquake in Yushu earthquake, Wenchuan earthquake. Then, induce seismic damage characteristics of frame structures and explain all kinds of damage factors, which provide the basis for the strengthening work of seismic identification.(2)Seismic identification analyses were done to the reinforced concrete frame structure according to the existing field test results. Identification results show that the part of the component cannot meet the requirements of seismic code;Then use the PKPM software for seismic bearing capacity and checking calculation of components.The results show that there is a part of the component does not meet the requirements of seismic code, which need to be strengthened.(3)Analyze the scope of application and construction technology of some reinforcement methods, such as increasing section method, outside the stick type steel method and paste the composite material method, etc. Then, determine the structural reinforcement design according to the seismic appraisal analysis and calculation results.And then, strengthen the beams and columns which do not meet the requirements. Lastly,the seismic performance of the reinforced structure is checked in the elastic stage by using response spectrum method, and the results show that the main structure and components of the reinforcement meet the requirements of the specification.(4)Analyze seismic performance of the reinforced structures according to theperformance index of the layer displacement angle by using the static elastic plastic analysis method, which were compared with the elastic and plastic analysis results of the structure before strengthening. There is the analysis results:Seismic fortification category,the seismic rating of the strengthened structure can meet the requirements of the existing design specifications, and also meet the requirements of the three level of seismic design.
