With the outbreak of the global energy crisis, wind energy has been national attention by virtue of its highly efficient and clean among the many new energy. Due to the importance of the development of wind energy resources in improving the energy structure, the main purpose of this paper is the research and development of the kind of vertical axis wind turbine pitch servo technology which can raise the utilization ratio of wind turbine wind. The basic principle of this pitch technique is to use the rotation of the spindle of wind turbine to drive the rotation of blade in order to realize wind turbine blade pitch without the need to add any additional device or power.Firstly, the feasibility of new follower pitch vertical axis wind turbine has been studied through numerical analysis method in the paper and the results show that The torque coefficient of the wind turbine are higher than traditional vertical axis wind turbine and the ideal straight blade vertical axis wind turbine which shows that the wind turbine can effectively increase the torque generated by the wind turbine blades and improve the utilization of wind energy.Secondly, its aerodynamic properties are studied in the paper. The research shows that the maximum power factor of this wind turbine can reach 0.324, which means that the wind energy utilization coefficient increased by about 20% compared to traditional vertical axis wind turbine.Thirdly, the output power value of this type of wind turbine mechanical model is analyzed theoretically to get the direction angle of wind turbine output shaft power and coming flow wind, the rotation angular of boom, boom radius, wind speed and the area changes relationship of wind turbine blade.Finally, the structural design and prototype machining work of new follower pitch small vertical axis wind turbine has been completed based on the above research, which provides the corresponding theoretical basis and design ideas for the qualitative design of this type of wind turbines.
