Research On The New Trend Of Structural Aesthetics Of Contemporary Architecture

After the Modernist architecture movement, along with the rapid development in the field of applied sciences field, human society has entered the information age, also, materials science and construction technology have gained tremendous development. It is the improvement of technology that support the diversification trend of architectural design, alone with it, people's aesthetic has also changed. Therefore, nowadays, the aesthetic tendencies of architecture have changed from “rational thinking”, “linear thinking” and “holistic thinking”, which appeared in the period of Modernist architecture movement, to “irrational thinking”, “chaotic thinking” and “non-holistic thinking”, which appeared in the period of Post-modernist architecture movement. At the same time, structural aesthetics of architecture has changed gradually from the pursuit of traditional mechanical performance based on structural integrity to the pursuit of tectonic aesthetic performance based on decorative structural components.Tectonics is defined as a process and a way to solve the problem of architecture noumenon by means of material methods in the process of building construction. It is a logic and a relationship of construction, which made up of building material, building structure and construction method together. It is the constant pursuit of new performance of structural aesthetic brought about by new building material and new technology of construction that led to the further development of the theory of tectonics. From the initial emphasis on the structure and construction to meet the strength, stiffness and stability of the functional requirement of structure, to the structure and construction needs to meet the artistic performance of aesthetics technically, the theory of tectonics is getting more and more emphasizing on the aesthetics of technology.With the continuous development of the theory of tectonics, the trend became more and more obviously that structural components are regarded as decoration. This trend has gradually become the main trend of the performance of structural aesthetic of contemporary architecture.The clue of this paper is the development of structural aesthetics. The paper also compares the differences between structural performance of contemporary architecture and traditional architecture, analysis the reason of the change, and focuses on making classification and conclusion about the characteristics and values of structural aesthetics of contemporary architecture. All the efforts are in order to take advantage of the trend, provide references to improving method of architectural design, and finally contribute to architectural practice——making architecture which is rich of the structural performance of contemporary architecture.
