Because the train has make a great progress on the automated,high speed and comfortable, more and more data, such as train condition information, train diagnosis information, train control information and so on, which are need to be transported and exchanged between the vehicles belonging to one train. As a result, the technology of train communication network is needed for this.As to meet international of the data transmitting on the train, the IEC gone through IEC61375-1 standard in June,1999. It divides TCN into two busses:Multifunction Vehicle Bus and Wire Train Bus. However, this standard doesn't describe the detail of information and meaning of data clearly, just defines the base communication mechanism of the two busses. So TCN can't work on the train from different company. At ease UIC556 protocol is necessary to realize this kind of train mutual operation.After doing the research on the IEC61375-1 standard and UIC556 protocol, this paper gives the whole design of UIC556 Train Communication Network gateway, including hardware and software.The design of hardware includes backboard, CPU board, MVB board and power board.The design of software includes system software of CPU board, software of RPT protocol, software of UIC protocol and software of gateway Configuration.Finally, this paper makes the WTB bus communication data test of independence UIC gateway between Unicontrol gateway, WTB bus communication data test inside independence UIC gateways in the lab. The result of the test indicates that the UIC gateway implemented in this paper owns function of gateway being supposed to, and it fits UIC556 protocol totally.
