Ball valve and brake valve are extensive applied to industrial production and daily life. The safety and reliability of valve have a direct impact on normal operation of the component system. However, the current valve structure design mainly adopts empirical data and industrial design process, have not achieved full computerization. New techniques especially strength analysis applied to structure and strength design optimization still lack many experience. Thus, paper has established metal valve calculation system and integrated valve design process operation. Based on the finite element thesis, we have processed the strength analysis and validated the finite element results, main research contents as follows:1) Metal valve computing system is established. The system has combined the functions of the database, the computerization of standard calculation procedures, valve design manual automatically generated, user management, remote management system and online network fee, which has improved the metal valve design efficiency and lowered the cost, and provided support for later inspection and performance guarantee.2) Paper has introduced the basic theoretical strength analysis, and did the finite element stress analysis direct at ball valve and brake valve. Paper has analyzed the equivalent stress and the hoop stress distribution of the ball valve (Q347F-16C-DN200) and the brake valve (Z689-DN200-PN16) when internal stress is 2.4MPa. We have found that the ball valve may appear stress concentration and large deformation at the joints connected with flange connection. While the stress concentration of brake valve may appear at the joints of brake valve cylinder connected with side cylinder, spherical shell.3) The stress and strain experiment of ball valve and brake valve and the analysis of stress influencing factors. In order to validate the results of finite element, paper has processed the stress and strain experiment to detect the hoop stress distribution of outer wall of valve, which highly corresponding with the finite element analysis results. On the basis of the above research, paper has pursued the influence of wall thickness and internal fluid pressure on the valve body strength, and researched the maximum internal pressure load of ball valve.
