In order to meet the increasingly stringent emission and fuel consumption regulations,automotive engine testing technology is transforming from the traditional steady-state testing to the dynamic testing direction.In recent years,it has been proposed a testing method based on the simulation of engine in the loop vehicle environment,which established the real-time simulation platform in a highly dynamic engine test bench,simulating the engine's w-orking condition.This advanced testing method could evaluate and optimise the engine pe-rformance in the early vehicle development period,largely shorting the product developent cycle.This advanced testing technology is based on the advanced test equipment,such asmeasuring the transient fuel consumption and analyzing the mixing of the fuel and gas du-ring the dynamic condition,requiring transientfuel consumption measuring system with h-igh accuracy and real-time response.It's of great importance to develop transientfuel cons-umption.Based on the traditional engine fuel consumption measurement methods,this pa-per proposed a new method of developing the transient engine fuel consumption measuring system.Firstly,it summarized the traditional fuel meter's principle and analyzed theircharacterristics,and proposed the necessity of developing the transient testing system.Then,it illustrated how the Coriolis mass flowmeter works,which laid the theoretical foundation for the development of the transient fuel consumption measurement system;Secondly,it explained howto design and develop the transient fuel consumption measureing system,including the main scheme of the whole system,selection of the main components of the hydraulic system,system layout design,control system design.etc.According to the design requirements of the system,it have proposed a return fuel supply system and the non-return fuel supply system solutions designed respectively in detail,which made the measurement system own better versatility;On the basis of the system parameters selection and calculation having done,build the simulation model of the transient fuel consumption measurement system based on the AMEsim hydraulic system simulation platform.It emphasized the no-return fuel supply system,discussing the relevant factors of the system which could influence the outlet fuel temperature and providing theoretical basis for optimization of post-measurement system;Finally,after the complete assembly debugging of the transient fuel consumption measurement system,we did some experiments to verify the performance of the system,and the results showed that the transient fuel consumption measuring system can meet predetermined design requirements.
