High voltage switch cabinet is an important equipment in safe operation of power system, whether is it stable or not will affect the reliable of power supply, and also relate to the quality and reliability of power supply. The failure causes of switchgear mainly from two kinds of defects caused by insulation piece. One kind is that creepage form in the organic insulation material surface but do not form carbide channel at the same time, once this defect formed it will continuous deteriorate in the long-term electric power operation and the process of material aging, causing insulation surface throughout and then resulting in switchgear severe accident; Another type of defect is that switchgear insulation discharges on the surface, which caused by those reasons such as crack, blister partial, due to the fault of construction or production process, when the insulation deterioration and par'tial discharge level reaches the limit, it will cause switchgear accidents. In the abnormal event of switchgear users all of who suffer a sudden power outage, not only will cause great economic losses to the users, but also will cause the bad social influence.This article first through consulting a large number of literature to understand the existing switchgear surveillance technology that about the two kinds of defects, and then combining the switchgear insulation monitoring system development trend both at home and abroad, analyzes the existing domestic switchgear insulation monitoring system, including the monitoring unit of the single, can't realize the early warning, complex operation and so on.Secondly, aiming at the shortcomings of the existing switchgear insulation fault monitoring, this paper proposes a early warning method of insulation parts defects in switchgear, It's based on organic insulating material release material related gas during pyrolysis and the partial discharge occurs on the surface of the insulation characteristics release ozone gas, moreover,becoause of small volume in switch room,before the carbide channel has formed on the surface of the insulation through and smaller partial discharge can detect the characteristics of the gas, so as to realize the early warning.Then, using the above methods proposed a switchgear insulation defects early warning system, The system is composed by upper-lower computer. The hypogyny machine system is mainly completed for four gas gathering of CO2, HCN, NH3 and O3,and send the data to upper computer; PC system is mainly to complete the data storage, display, and early warning, etc.Finally completed experiment of the partial discharge generating ozone, and using the early warning system to complete the measurement verification.
