The main purpose of this paper is to use MATLAB software, complex method and fmincon function in optimization toolbox of MATLAB as the basic computing functions to study on multi-objective optimization and design of combination column of frame composition in SRC frame-RC core tube composite structure.In the first place, this paper introduces both domestic and foreign researches and application situations in related fields, briefly describes the type of commonly used combined column and its scope of use, refers to the relevant lit erature on the composite structure and seismic performance of frame combination column, and optimizes the combination column in composite structure from stress, ductility and cost. It describes the design principles of optimization of conventional structur e, including basic concepts of optimizing design, mathematical model selection and building process which leads to the selected optimization algorithm. According to relevant raw data calculated from frame-core tube composite structure in specific projects, it calculates and analyzes structural design and analysis of composite structure under an earthquake and seismic fortification. Finally, it optimizes the design of combination column and analyzes its stress characteristics.The paper takes a single-limb combination column with the largest integrated force as the object of analysis, and utilizes complex method and optimization toolbox in MATLAB to solve constraints nonlinear optimization problems in this paper by programming and analyzes it through comparison. Through conducting a number of different contrasts among optimization schemes, it introduces linear weighting method to construct multi-objective function, thus converting it to a mature function with a single objective. In addition, it achieves indicators quantization, which can intuitively reflect the best combination making comprehensive benefits. The comparison between obtained final optimized structure and the original design proves that multi-objective optimization design method of combination column is feasible.
