Concrete bridge has a mature design idea, it is economical and easy to built, most of our bridges built in the last century are concrete bridges. With it’s operation for many years and narrow bridge deck, many concrete bridges can’ t meet the demand of the growth of traffic at present in China. At the same time, it is meaningful to do a research on broadening and reinforcing the existing concrete bridge of re-use to respond to the calling of "two-based society" construction.This paper comes up with a method, broadening and reinforcing vertical and horizontal beams, to broaden and reinforce the existing concrete bridge of re-use on the basis of the research on broadening and reinforcing the existing concrete bridge in old road reconstruction project from the special fund program of research and production. This method can improve the loaded capacity of the existing concrete bridge and made ti used to the upgrade loading level.This paper comes up with a basic technologic idea of vertical and horizontal beams’ reinforcement and builds a broadening and reinforcement model of space finite element with hollow slab bridge, to research general mechanical characteristics of the broadening and reinforcing vertical and horizontal bridge focusing on reseaching reasonable stiffness of vertical and horizontal beams by calculating reasonable comparison. The writer assessed the reinforcing effects of the broadening and reinforcing vertical and horizontal beam method through calculating and analyzing the contrast loaded capacities between before reinforcing and after it by using the software of MIDAS/Civil. Researched horizontal distribution coefficient calculation method of the new vertical beam on the after strengthening actual characteristics and found a way to calculate it.After that, came up with a simple but reliable calculation method which can calculate the added stress on the vertical beam and horizontal beam of the reinforced bridge.
