Shenyang, is one of the most important traditional cities in China. It was the provisional capital city in the Qing Dynasty. In the modern times, Shenyang established their own Opening South Manchuria Railway Zone and a commercial port. Gradually Shenyang transits from a feudal city to a semi-feudal city. This formation process played an important role in China at that time. The design tendency of Japanese architect is largely influenced by the Western architectural culture, Japanese modern architectural culture and Shenyang local traditional architectural culture. At that time, due to the fact that Japan had the win of the war with Russia in 1905, Japan obtained from the Russians the right to use the "railway land", which was renamed "South Manchuria Railway Zone" in Shenyang. This results in the colliding, friction and blending of the three cultures and thus the symbiosis of the Japanese design style. The Design Tendency include two parts, one is the "internationalization" of design tendency.Deeply influenced by Western architectural culture, embodied thoughts of a biased international design tendencies; second is the "localization" of design tendency By the Shenyang local regional characteristics influence deeply,as reflected in the design of a tendency with local characteristics of Shenyang. This essay takes 1905-1945 as the main time period and targets at the urban plannings and actual construction by Japanese architect in Shenyang local area in order to draw a conclusion about influencing factors on the two Japanese architect design tendencies through the examination on the development process of Japanese modern architecture, Shenyang historical background of the modern period, and Japanese architects practical construction of Shenyang local area. Moreover, this article summaries the two specific performances of the Japanese design tendencies through the areas of urban planning and practical construction design in Shenyang. This serves as a theoretical basis for the analysis of the methods and skills that the modern Japanese architects have used in this construction process. Finally, through the entire research process, this essay presents a deeper understanding of the foreign construction culture collide phenomenon.
