Railway is the most advanced and effective transportation method in modern history.The construction and operation of railway have a crucial impact on economy and national defense.In modern history,building railway is one of the important means for Japan to colonize Northeast China.North Manchuria has abundant natural resources and important geographical location.After Japan controlled Northeast China,it stepped up to expand railways,build new lines and build railway network in this area.From 1931 to 1945,more than 3000 kilometers of railways were built in North Manchuria,most of them are still in operation today.Therefore,the period of the enemy occupation of Northeast China is the key period of the railway expansion and the formation of the railway network in the north of Northeast China.During this period,the railway development in North Manchuria had special historical and historical background,and the completion of these railways also had a profound impact on the areas along the line.This article will discuss the railway expansion in North Manchuria from four aspects.Firstly,this paper analyzes the historical background of Japan's railway construction in North Manchuria.Then sorts out the specific contents of railway development in North Manchuria during the enemy occupied period by sorting out and analyzing the archives.Thirdly,combined with the political and economic environment and the international situation at that time,the paper analyzes the spatial and temporal characteristics of railway distribution and evolution in this period;Finally,combined with the records of local chronicles and the data of railway transportation,it explores the impact of railway expansion on the resource environment and social economy along the railway.
