This paper aims to investigate the design and development of the media player system in car connected to Apple devices based on the Android platform. The Apple device is connected with the Android embedded car device adopting Apple Lighting Connector data cable through the USB port. In view of Apple's announcement of the iAP2 protocol, the iPod application's functions are achieved through obtaining Apple device's song files. The main application features are given as follows: Play Pause, Previous, Next, ID3 information and album chart, Playback mode switch, Songlist, Search, etc. According to the architecture of the vehicle platform system and iAP2 protocol, the architecture of hardware and software are designed.In this paper, the AC8317 ARM chip is applied as the core processor in the hardware aspect. The connection between android embedded car device and Apple device is achieved by linking 2.0C chip to AC8317 through I2C(Inter-Integrated Circuit). Then, the Apple authentication process can be guaranteed by acquiring certified data in 2.0C. In addition, the software development environment is constructed in Windows and the software is divided into three levels(Application level, Framework level and Underlying level) on the basis of Android system's architecture. The Application level is divided into a plurality of operating modules programmed by Java in order to design a multi-threaded asynchronous mode which ensure the high quality of the application. The communication between Java and C++ is realized by adopting JNI(Java Native Interface)in the Framework level. For the purpose of obtaining song files from Apple device, the underlying level logic is programed by C++ language on the basis of iAP2 protocol.The code is compiled and installed on the Android vehicle equipment to achieve certification test and function test by employing the Apple's official ATS(Apple terminal Survice) tools after the completion of code design. The effectiveness and stability are demonstrated by displaying corresponding functions. Finally, the paper is summarized and some directions of future research are given.
