With the rapid development of the Internet of Things and information technology, more and more countries have set clear targets for building smart-city in order to improve people's living environment and raise living standards.Smart transportation play an importation role in the construction of smart-city.At present, due to the surge in traffic volume, road congestion, traffic accidents and other problems result in huge loss of life and property.VANET can greatly improve traffic safety and efficiency by sharing information such as traffic status, weather conditions and entertainment services between vehicles. It is one of the key infrastructures for future development and construction. However, because VANET adopts wireless communication,it is vulnerable to various attacks. Therefore,it is necessary to design a strict authentication protocol to identify malicious users and resist malicious attacks.Based on the structural model of VANET,this paper proposes a safe and efficient batch authentication and group key distribution protocol(BAGKD).Vehicles use the pseudonym issued by the Trusted Authority to communicate with the roadside unit, which realizes the anonymous authentication and maintains the privacy of users.Besides, batch authentication is realized by utilizing bilinear mapping. The distributed-group-key-management method is used to distribute the group key. When a group member joins or leaves, the group key is updated in time to adapt to the dynamic group.Through the means of formal verification and informal analysis,BAGKD is proved to meet the security requirements of VANET.In addition,in terms of computational efficiency and communication burden, comparison experiments with three other mainstream protocols show that BAGKD has faster computing speed and less resource consumption, and is more suitable for the short-range communication nature of VANET.
