Based on a domestic SUV,a finite element model for side impact was built by Hypermesh software, combined with the finite element analysis software LS-DYNA to simulate side collision according to C-NCAP side impact test procedure about movable deformable barrier and GB20071-2006 Automobile occupant protection of side impact.Based on restraint system test data, this paper established restraint system model by finite element method and verified their effectiveness, then put the verified restraint system model in effective vehicle body structure to study their working status and the influence in occupant protection, and benchmarked with the experimental data.Summarizing the development methods and processes of restraint system by FEM.Under the condition of other parameters constant,THUMS was used to simulate occupant injury instead of ES-2 dummy model to study Injury Biomechanics, examine human body injury form and results, then made some suggestions about automobile safety design based on THUMS simulation. The result shows that there is a security risk to investigate ES-2 dummy damage index simply, but using finite element method to establish restraint system model can not only accurately simulate airbag deployment process, but also more precisely investigate how the restraint system protect occupant.Tt played more direct?effcetive part in restraint system development, and provided more intuitive and convenient data support to its design optimization. Moreover,it combined restraint system matching with vehicle body structure crashworthiness simulation seamlessly, reducing enterprise demand of MADYMO software,MADYMO practitioners and finite element software and MADYMO software data exchange cost, development cost and shorten the development cycle.Tt plays a more practical significant role in engineering.
