With the development of large scale mechanical equipment in our country, the application of the spreader is more and more extensive. The spreader is a kind of concrete conveying equipment, mainly used for power stations, docks, airports and bridges.In order to expand the scope of concrete pouring and improve the scope of application, We should develop more efficient, energy saving, economical and practical products.Earlier spreader is introduced from foreign advanced machine equipment, it has obtained good economic effectiveness, then Carried on the changes of spreader. The mobile belt spreader of Sinohydro Bureau No.8 Co., Ltd fills the blank in China. As a good market prospect equipment, it should be continuously optimized. In order to improve the international competitiveness of the domestic mobile belt spreader, we should increase the types of products and improve product performance.This paper presents a study on a 33m mobile belt spreader telescopic boom developed by the R&D Center of the Electromechanical Company of Sinohydro Bureau No.8 Co., Ltd. The actual performance of the telescopic boom is summarized and analyzed, the simplified mechanical model of telescopic boom is obtained and the dangerous conditions are summarized and analyzed. Telescopic boom finite element model is established in Hypermesh. Finite element model of the telescopic boom has been static and linear buckling analyzed, the analysis results show that the stiffness, strength and stability of the telescopic boom are all satisfied with the requirements. Studied on the stiffness of the telescopic boom when the slide tube and hopper are at the weight of the material accumulation.Studied on the influence of amplitude angle to the stiffness and strength. After researched the static performance of the telescopic boom,further analyzed the dynamic performance during the work process.The results shows the situations may be dangerous and might be useful to the design and optimization.Researched the influence to the vibration under the dynamic load caused by the structural damping.Due to the static performance of the telescopic boom,found there is much allowance in the telescopic boom,used OptiStruct to size optimize the boom.The design variables are the thickness of the main chord and the parameters of the cross section of the diagonal web member and beam.The constraint condition are stiffness, strength, stability and fourth order modal frequency of the telescopic boom.The design goal is the minimum weight of the telescopic boom. After optimization, the weight of the telescopic boom is reduced by 11.36%, and the dynamic performance is improved.
