In recent years, self-anchored suspension bridge is drawing more and more attention over the world because of its long spanning capacity, terrain adaptability, beautiful shape and many other features. Even self-anchored suspension bridge has been developed rapidly in recent years, but taking its inherent structural characteristics and the relatively brief history in development into consideration, for self-anchored suspension bridge, there are many issues that need further research and analysis to explore.Aiming at the situation of ignoring the bending stiffness of main cable while doing the calculation of self-anchored suspension bridge,this paper takes Taohuayu Yellow River Bridge in Henan province that has been built as the main engineering background and combined theoretical analysis with finite element software, suspension bridge will be discussed with considering & without considering the bending stiffness of main cable, and then we summarized the general conclusions as followed.The main contents of this paper as followed are:(1)Based on the existing theory, we built the FEM Model of this background engineering by using software Midas Civil; Do the static calculation of design finished state as well as the operating state and summarize the general conclusions obtained.(2) On the basis of the qualitative analysis of the different features between consideration & without considering the bending stiffness of main cable, we discusses linear formulas under different conditions by simplifying assumptions; Established the FEM model considering the bending stiffness of main cable, then do the comparison of consideration & without considering the mechanical properties of self-anchored suspension bridge under design state as well as operating state.(3) Considering the bending stiffness of main cable, we establish the FEM model of empty state by regression analysis and compare the linear features of this typical construction state with the same state that without considering the bending stiffness of main cable.(4) Do comparison under combinations of different parameter conditions, focusing on the bending characteristic size of main cable and obtained the force characteristics of key components under different conditions of the main cable bending characteristic values, and summarized the general law.(5) Summarize the foregoing conclusions, and emphasized the future work of this research.
