With the quick development of the national economy, our demand for traffic is increasing. Traffic jams and violation occur frequently, which has become a common problem faced by each city. However, Intelligent Transportation Systems-ITS is just an effective way to solve the problem on road traffic. Whether ITS runs efficiently, the key lies in access to traffic information with the feature of real-time, comprehensive and accurate. Regarding the inadequate of ways to collecting traffic information, the paper proposes using vehicles carrying a passive tag as electronic identification, to complement the design and research of RFID-based traffic information collection system.This paper analyzes the existing problems on intelligent transportation information collection system, describes detailed research status, and illustrates the necessity of applying RFID on traffic information collection.The paper puts the passive vehicle tag applied to traffic information collection system, proposes a treatment to dual frequency processing, where low-frequency is used to supply power for passive vehicle tags and high-frequency services for data exchange. In the premise of being difficult to identify a plurality of passive vehicle tags, it puts forward to the improved pre-detection query tree anti-collision algorithm and sorting anti-collision algorithm according to section in the RFID system. Considering the security of data transmission, the system uses DES encryption and decryption algorithm. In the design of the system, the paper firstly constructs the whole system, divides the system into several functional modules, and finishes the system software design. Then it focus on the design of the system hardware in the next two chapters, where the design of card reader and passive vehicle tag is most important. The card reader includes its overall framework, peripheral circuit and Digital hardware logic. And when designing the passive vehicle label, the paper only presents the overall framework, main peripheral circuit and digital logic. In the two designs, each module is verified by simulation.Finally, according to the design scheme, the two kinds of anti collision algorithm are given a MATLAB simulation comparison, and key modules of digital hardware logic in card reader and passive vehicle label that is, collision module and DES encryption and decryption module are given a Moldesim simulation. Then we carry on simulation experiments on wireless power providing of passive vehicle label, The simulation and experiment show that the system is with the functions of multi tags anti-collision, multi tags rapid identification and Information encryption, what's more, the feasibility of passive vehicle tags applied to traffic information collection opens up a new prospect of application.
