Wetlands are essential natural resources on the earth, and play an important role in maintaining global ecological balance. In recent years, along with people’s attention to the ecological environment, the wetland research and protection work has been carried out. On this basis, the government has built a number of urban wetland park. Urban Wetland Park not only effectively curbs the degradation of wetlands, having good ecological benefits, but also brings the leisure and recreation space.However, in the construction of urban wetland park’s water system, due to the imbalance of theory and practice project, there has exposed some problems of ecological protection and recreation functionality. This article will address these problems, drawing on landscape ecology, ecological restoration theory, recreation theory and garden aesthetics, and propose the application of these theories in water system design. And then based on the project of Gucheng Lake urban Wetland Park, solve the problems in the design of water system. The full text is divided into five chapters:Chapter 1:Introduction. Mainly describing the background, purpose and significance of research. Understanding the concepts of wetland and urban wetland park, introducing the wetland research profile at home and abroad, and exploring the contents, methods and research framework.Chapter 2:Summarize the situation of urban wetland park in Nanjing. Investigating urban wetland parks in Nanjing, and generalizing the problems exist in design of water system.Chapter 3:Aiming at the problems existing in the design of water system, discussing on the solution of related theories. Outlining landscape ecology, ecological restoration theory, recreation and landscape aesthetics, and researching the specific application of these theories in the planning and design of the water system.Chapter 4:Theory applied to practical projects. I will take the Gucheng lake wetland park as an example, and through the analysis of the status of the site, summing up the problems of water system design in the project. Using the methods of the theories described in Chapter 3, combining with the actual project, and discussing how to plan the layout of water system, improve water quality and create the theme water landscape. I will give the final solution through constant scrutiny.Chapter 5:Conclusion. Summarizing the full text, finding the limitations of the research, and looking forward to the future research.
