With development and popularization of multi-storey and high-rise steel structure housing industrialization,continuing to use traditional section components,such as H-shape and box section,in the new type of housing system has already revealed multiple disadvantages on the building itself.If we could introduce special-shape closed section steel columns that can be the same width as the wall into the new type of residential system,then we could not only increase the effective use of space in the building but also lower the construction costs.Currently,there are little studies on special-shape closed section steel column.This article elaborates the theoretical research and finite element analysis on the overall stability of T-shaped closed section steel columns under simultaneous action of pressure and bending moment,hoping to promote use of special-shape closed section steel columns in multi-storey and high-rise steel structureStrength,rigidity and stability are the most important three features in terms of steel structure design.when the slenderness ratio of steel column is relatively large,what would most likely to happen is that,the stability of the column,instead of its strength,is damaged.Therefore,to study the integral stability of T-shaped closed section steel columns has its great significance for popularizing shaped columns widely.In this article,by using the energy method,we calculate the buckling loads of the bending steel column,and simplify the calculation to introduce checking formulas for the integral stability of inside and outside of the plane of bending moment,and derive the relevant section geometric features.We use ANSYS to conduct elastic analysis on T-shaped steel columns.Comparison between theoretical solution and elastic solution is conducted and correctness of the modeling approach is verified.Secondly,nonlinear analysis of the steel column is conducted,mainly taking the material's nonlinear characteristics,initial geometric imperfections and residual stress into consideration,to analyze the variation characteristics on T-shaped column's ultimate bearing capacity under the influence of the mentioned factors,independently and collectively.
