By national environmental policy about the west to east gas transmission energy strategy and energy conservation implementation,the clean energy resources such as natural will greatly optimize current energy structure which dominated by coal because of less contamination rate, higher conversion efficiency. Gas will have wild application prospects in electric power industry, especially power generation enterprises. Gas turbine generator group has much more advantage than traditional coal turbine generator group in low energy consumption per unit, high the start-up success rate, high load raising speed, and low noise. It will be an important direction of peak load regulation generator group in the future. But by the necessary of purging and cleaning the gas pipeline, ignition acceleration and eventually complete final speed rise by the gas turbine,we have to supply start-up equipment for it. Therefore,the manner in which the gas turbine to achieve self-sustaining speed becomes the critical factor of successful in starting.According to the special needs of running conditions in gas turbine starting, a scheme of electrical starting based on load commutation inverter system has been given in this paper. The principle of load commutated inverter has been analyzed in detail. It also focus on the two different way which to achieve commutation.One has been called motor back electromotive force commutation,and the other called discontinuous current commutation. Some problems in the process of switching between the two ways have been discussed. The mathematical expression about important electrical parameters such as current and voltage of load commutated synchronous motor, electromagnetic torque, the remaining angle have been deduced detailly.The paper also discusses their influences on the motor running status. Load commutation inverter topology has been given on the basis of theoretical analyses.And the designing of main circuit components parameters has completed. At the same time, this paper focuses on the performance characteristics of the inverter with type AC PEC800 controller as the core of the electronic power regulation unit. According to methodical and systematic research above, combined with the results from static simulation experiments and test in place, the scheme of electrical starting given by this paper can satisfy the design specifications. The scheme has a good performance in regulation process and great value on practice.
