The hydraulic condition of flocculation equipment is important to its effect.Based on the researches of flocculation at home and abroad, this study explores the optimal process of flocculation of a certain water treatment plant by experimental tests as well as numerical simulations. First, the best shear stress of flocculation was found by stirring tank test with ADV. Then through the orthogonal experiments of varying stirring speed, time of flocculaton to determine the best stirring process.Finally through three-dimensional numerical simulation of prototype size flocculation of the stirring pool, it is determined its best working process.Tank experiment with ADV obtained the optimal flow shear stress of flocculation is 10.92 Pa. Jar tests showed that slow stirring speed 80 rpm with its stirring blade diameter 45 mm and 30 mm to the bottom achieved best effect. Finally numerical simulation of prototype flocculation pool obtained the best working conditions is impeller speed 80 rpm with its stirring blade diameter 1000 mm, stirring blade number four and 0.8 m distance to pool bottom.The work methods and conclusions of this study are applicable to the design and operation of other flocculation tanks.
