This paper researched on the comparision of the bridge design methods and specifications among Chinese Norms, AASHTO LRFD and Eurocodes and proposed the evaluation system of different bridge design specifications.The comparative research is based on the ?General Design Specifications of Highway Bridges and Culverts? (JTG D60-200?JTG D60-2015),?Code for Design of Highway Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete Bridges and Culverts? (JTG D62-2004), ?AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification? (2007 Version) and Eurocodes (EN 1990-1999).The main content of this paper is as following five aspects:1) Compare and summarize the basic design requirements among Chinese, American and European codes:contrast the design criteria and philosophy; analyze the divided limit states and the limit states'calculation expression. Provide a comparative summary of the three bridge design codes from the aspects including design criteria, Material properties, loads and load combinations, members' calculation methods, Service Limate States'requirements, etc.2) Contrast the reliability index among Chinese, American and European codes:introduce the principle of structural reliability theory and the basic concept of Structural Reliability, Failure Probability and Reliability index; discover the difference of the target reliability from the three codes; analyze the reliable level of the bending, shear, crack and deflection index under different limit states.3) Establish the evaluation system of domestic and foreign bridge design speciafications: the evaluation system comprises two portions, combined the comparision of design details with appraising index based on the structural reliability theory. The core appraising index-Comprehensive Margin is composed of Section Margin, Deformation Margin and Stress Margin considering the sub-item weights of each margin.4) Calculate and analyze the concrete cable-stayed bridge project:based on general design software Midas/Civil 8.2.1, establish the finite element models of the Mbinibridge from Equatorial Guinea. Check the finite element results of the Mbinibridge with Chinese, American and European codes.5) Analyze the appraising index of bridge projects:calculate and analyze 22 typical bridges drawings which were published by the Ministry of Transport and Mbini cable-stayed bridge. Propose the main conclusion of the Comprehensive Margin under different bridge design specifications and different types of bridge projects.This paper compares and summarizes the main design norms among Chinese, American and European codes, establishes the evaluation system of domestic and foreign bridge design speciafications based on the structural reliability theory, evaluates the economic and security of different design codes quantitatively. The methods and conclusions of this paper can be applicable and valueable for the domestic engineering enterprises to raise competitiveness in oversea engineering markets.
