This paper reviewed the theory and literature of the interaction between land use and transportation planning, the TOD and “5Ds” principle; and had a spot-surveying in Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui Station at the same time, summarized the successful experiences of TOD construction. And under the framework of “5Ds” principle, this paper studied two typical cases in the Previous Planning of the Wetern Extension of Line 9 of Shenzhen Metro. In the case of Xuefulu station, through the investigation of the station area to discover the problems and surrounding resources, and then proposed that regard the construction of walking system as the starting point, to improve the land mixed degree by the integration of land use, and ameliorate the planning assumptions of accessibility to destination and bus stops, after time and again coordinated with a plurality of stakeholders, technical and constructional planning authorities, and ultimately proposed the implementation of the program. In the case of Lixiang station and Nanyou station, through the method of sample survey, field test and design analysis, this paper verified that under the same intensity of development, different types of land, the same type of construction of different categories(such as: mansions and ordinary houses),the surrounding design conditions, as well as the proximity to public transport passenger corridor, have a huge impact on the passenger flow. The study proved that, compared to Lixiang station, the Nanyou station is more proper transfer station. The study of these two cases illustrated that at the actual project, it’s inadvisable to mechanically apply the “5Ds” principle. The study also concluded that:(1) There are significant differences between the already developed areas and the newly developed areas when put the TOD projects into practice. The implementation of TOD projects should follow the planning logic of “find the implementation way by surveying – proposal the planning assumption- analysis of technical feasibility- negotiation with the stakeholders and various departments – implementation programs”.(2)Under the same development intensity of the station surrounding areas, here are a number of factors surrounding the station that have a direct or indirect impact on passenger flow, such as the different types of land, different categories under the same type of buildings, the surrounding road system and urban design and other factors, it’s biased to regard the intensity of development as the only location base. The conclusions of these two cases have been adopted, the relevant projects are currently being implemented.
