ADS-B is an im portant part of the f uture new navigation technology which recognized by the ICAO, with satellite navigation and date link technology, the implementation of the ADS-B system will provide m ore reliable an d accurate surveillance service. It can also provide more safety and flexible surveillanc e and collision avoid f unction to the general aviation. For the analysis and evaluation of the surveillance signal coverage of the ADS-B system, three parts of works have been done. Calculating the range of the coverage which is based on the line-of-sight propagation theory, also com bined with the antenna radia tion theory and environmental attenuation factor to have a m ore accurate range of si gnal coverage in actu al condition. Secondly, with sing le ground station' s coverage simulation, the calculation algorithm for the multiply stations coverage can be designed, and related evaluation of the effect of network system based on calculation results of the single or multiply coverage rate of both airspace and route condition can be realized by this analysis algorithm. In addition, based on the algorithm, a user interface realized by the function of Matlab GUI programme is also provided in this project. And in final, a series of coverage resu lt in 3 dimensions is simulated based on the calculation data of Matlab and processed by 3D simulation software UGIS based on the actual terrain information. This project aim s to study the real engine ering problem in site selection of ADS-B ground stations in Xinjiang. W ith the algorith m and simulation results, the ef fect of the surveillance signal coverage can be evaluated. The blind compensation in blind area can be realized by the s imulation and th e 3D sim ulation result also proves the ef fectivity of the compensation strategy. A series of research and evaluation of ADS-B ground stations' networking and signal coverage problem is st udied, which also provides m ore effective experimental results as well as theo retical basis for the future research in ADS-B networking systems.
