Aero engine is the core of the aircraft, which has complex structure, the research and design involves a wide range of subjects. The working process of it is affected by the changes of external and internal conditions. The performances of aero engine will change under different conditions, too.The main research object is CFM56-2 engine, and analyze the characteristics of the engine and the failures of the air system. It is necessary to establish the corresponding mathematical model for the simulation of the engine. In this thesis, certain assumptions are made in the working process of the engine to simplify the research, which has no effect on the research results. Then establishment a mathematical model of aircraft engine components.According to different working processes of the engine, the model can be divided into steady working process and dynamic working process. Two different working equations are given,and solved. On the basis of this, the engine characteristic are analyzed, mainly include the studies of the different flight conditions influence on the engine performance parameters, the engine section parameters on engine performance parameters and control rules changes on aero engine performance parameters.In this thesis, the composition principle and structure of air system control system are introduced in detail. The failure of VSV and VBV system is analyzed and simulated. Failure,cause and maintenance of VBV system are introduced. The VSV fault is analyzed and simulated, and the impact of VSV system fault to engine surge.The research results show that this paper has a certain practicality, and can be used as the basis for the actual operation of aero engine. The fault analysis air system can be used for air system fault elimination and prevent surge happens, to ensure engine in the whole flight envelope, with a suitable working environment, and has an important role on the engine performance, reliability and service life.
