As the main part of rotating machinery, the running status of rotor is directly related to the security and the life of the equipment. It is important to gather and monitor the vibration information, to hold the running status and fault conditions of the equipment. So the equipment faults can be remedied in time, the maintenance costs and the disasters caused by equipment faults can be greatly reduced. In the beginning, the significance of rotor vibration monitoring was introduced as well as the causes of typical faults of rotor system and its performance. According to the requirements of high speed, real-time and synchronous processing to machinery's vibration monitor, the mechanical vibration fault diagnosis system was developed by Visual C++ based on spectrum and shaft orbit analysis. The vibration signal acquisition system, which was established on the USB2850 acquisition card, achieved the synchronous acquisition of multi-channel signals via the group acquisition mode. Some of key technologies of the system implementation process were studied.Synchronous acquisition of multi-channel signal was achieved by grouping acquisition mode. The original continuous signal was periodized by re-sampling of key signal. According to the signal sampling and data processing flow of each module, taking into consideration of the efficiency of algorithm, multi-thread pipelining architecture was designed to guarantee synchronous execution of the system. Finally, the stability, efficiency, and accuracy of the signal analysis system is demonstrated by the rotor imbalance and misalignment fault simulation experiments, which show that the fault diagnosis method is correct and successful.
