The transmission shaft in commercial vehicle is used to transmit power from engine to drive shaft. The structural parameters of the transmission shaft have significant effects on vehicle vibration. In order to improve the vehicle vibration, the transmission shaft is to be optimized. The major activities include:(1)A kinematic model of transmission shaft is established. The installation angle of the universal joints are optimized to improve the stability of the output velocity of the transmission shaft.(2)A finite element model of transmission shaft is established. The stiffness parameters of the supported bushings, the length of the transmission shaft and the thickness of the transmission shaft are chosen to be studied. Exactly their effects on the natural frequency of transmission shaft are studied. Finally the optimal design parameters are selected.(3)A commerical vehicle model is established in consideration of the flexibility of transmission shaft and frame. The secondary moment of transmission shaft and unbalance mass of wheels are studied. Exactly their effects on the vehicle vibration are studied. The locations of the supported bushings are optimized to improve vehicle vibration.
