Aircraft engine cable that connecting other parts of aircraft engine such as electric system, avionics system, and control system is an important device of aircraft engine to provide power, control signal and data information for the engine electrical system. Lots of problems, such as unstable indicating instruments, abnormal signals, as well as operating failures, can be leaded by aircraft engine cable fault that directly threats flight security. The current diagnosis methods of cable fault mainly contains visual inspection, Multimeter method, Ohmmeter insulation measuring method, impedance test method, Time Domain Reflectometry(TDR) and Frequency Domain Reflectometry(FDR), among which the most widely used is TDR. Therefore,in this paper, many kinds of cable fault characteristic are researched based on Reflectometry.As the technical data is too much, checking the aircraft manuals and the technical regulations should spend lots of time. This has resulted in maintenance of aircraft engines cable fault should spend longer time. Thus, with widely used kinds of aircrafts as the studying object, the cable fault feature can be found through the simulation of different kinds, such as short circuit, open circuit, abrasion and fold fault. Then the cable parameters, which can disturb the reference signal, can be realized. After that, the development of cable electrical characteristics database can form an information management system for maintenance with complete functionality and easy operation. As a result, the aim of rapidly inquiring detailed parameter information can be achieved when the database is put in use.The cable database is a practical tool to help maintenance person obtain the needed parameter characteristics through real-time query in maintenance and repair process. Apparently, maintenance plan can improve test quality and efficiency. Because of the improvement of test quality and efficiency, the aviation maintenance modernization can bring the economic and social benefits.The database system not only meets the needs of users of providing an effective way for aircraft engine data management, but also helps to take full advantage of aircraft engine data, enhance data and guarantee data security.
