With the development of automobile industry, the demand of the cord which is an important raw material for automobile tire increases day by day. While the direct twisting technology represents the mainstream direction of cord production and the research on high-performance direct twisting machine has a positive significance on promoting the development of domestic fiber industry raw materials technology.This thesis analyzes the twisting process and control method of direct twisting machine, the theoretical analysis and discussion for twisting control, traversing and winding control, balloon energy-saving control and power-off protection method are also carried out. The technical proposal is determined based on the electrical control characteristics of direct twisting machine, which uses PLC as the main controller, uses touch screen as man-machine interface and controls every station with one controller for distributed spindle station motor control. And the system components are carefully selected. We design a communication conversion unit to achieve the CAN bus extension of PLC. Using CAN bus as the system control bus instead of traditional RS-485 bus. The control of the main controller for traversing motor, winding motor and feeding motor is achieved by programming. We design a human-machine interface on the platform of WinCC flexible and achieve the functions of parameters control, alarm and start-stop control. A software and hardware system of spindle station control unit based on ARM kernel is designed, which has the functions of spindle station motor control and protection, tension control, yarn breaking alarm and so on. Besides, the bus connection with the main controller is realized.We have some tests on the functions and properties of related components in the laboratory, including the motor control and speed control, communication system joint debugging, broken yarn detection, tension control, tensioner characteristic test and so on. The experimental results can meet the development requirements of present stage.
