Buried pipelines play an important role in the modern urban and the construction of industry. Once the buried pipeline are damaged, they will bring a huge losses to country and people's life. As a result, the design and construction of buried pipelines have a major impact on the normal operation. Buried pipelines in the study of the influence factors of various geological disasters have become an important issue in the field of lifeline engineering. It has an important significance to the society and people.Based on the nonlinear finite element analysis software ADINA, the mechanical characteristics of buried pipelines are studied. Using the Native and the Parasolid entity modeling method which are provided by ADINA, the three-dimensional finite element model of pipeline is established under uneven settlement. It includes the straight pipe and the bend. The research results can be scientific guidance for the study of buried pipelines under geological conditions failure characteristics and overall safety evaluation. The numerical model above are analyzed respectively. According to the results of the finite element analysis, pipelines deformation curve and axial stress curve of the different factors are drawn. The further conclusions are that the pipelines appear the max stress near the settlement interface for the straight pipe; the friction between the soil and the pipeline does not play a major role on destruction uneven settlement; pipelines are more vulnerable to damage in large stiffness of soil, so the quality of backfill soil must be improved; Pipelines are damaged easily because of the large stress in the settlement of the border and the elbow. Elbow of large radius are adopted in actual engineering.
