As the lifeline of modern municipal infrastructure, buried pipelines such as water supply pipeline, drainage pipeline, heat supply pipeline, oil and gas transmission pipeline are playing a more and more important role in the process of urbanization. With the rapid development of buried pipeline construction, the safety and reliability of buried pipeline structure is becoming an issue. China is a country which is prone to earthquakes. Under the effect of seismic force, the failure of buried pipeline system will lead to the function disorder of the entire urban infrastructure, and great loss to people's life and property. Lots of examples show that not only the effect of seismic wave, but also the faults are the main reasons of buried pipeline failure. Thus, to avoid or mitigate the influence caused by buried pipeline failure, seismic design of fault crossing buried pipelines is quite necessary.In frozen region, freezing-thawing cycle is another main problem of buried pipeline safety. Especially in seasonal frozen region, freezing-thawing cycles occur with the change of seasons, and result in frost heave and differential subsidence of soil, which are potential risks of operation of buried pipelines. For a safer buried pipeline system, it is of great significance to study the interaction between frozen soil and pipelines.To solve above problems, following work is done:1. The theoretical methods of buried pipelines under the effect of active fault and seismic wave are summarized. Using C# language, a software for buried pipeline seismic response analysis is developed under the environment of Visual Studio 2013 and Matlab R2013a.2. Using the software, analysis of buried pipelines in different working conditions are carried out. The factors affecting the buried pipeline seismic response are studied.3. The properties of frozen soil are summarized. Using ANSYS, the response of buried pipelines under thawing settlement is calculated.
