As for pre-stressed steel structures, cable was regarded as key component included in most of the pre-stressed steel structures expect the rigid pre-stressed structures. Howerver, considering the importance of the cable, the researches are few. Based on these problems, modulus of cable, tensile mechanical properties when bending and thermal expansion coefficient were analysed in this paper.Based on the helical property of cable, three theoretical calculation methods of modulus of cable were proposed according to variable conditions, and Matlab program was write using for calculation. Besides, parametric analysis was presented on account of variable paramters of cable. Then, the thrilinear constituitive relation of wire was processed according to the constituitive relation experiment. Afterwards, the tensile force-displacement curve, breaking load and breaking disaplacement was calculated based on the data of tensile experiment of cable and destruction form of cable was oberseved. 3D model of cable was established using ABAQUS according to the real cable. Tensile and destruction of cable was analyzed using the model and was contrasted with results of experiment. Then, a fine model of cable was proposed which could simulate the mechanical properties of cable well by optimizing. After that, the theoretical calculation methods of cable were verified by established fine model and theoretical models.Tensile experiment when bending of cable was conducted using the self design anchor. Then the tensile force-displacement curve, breaking load and breaking disaplacement was calculated based on the data of experiment and destruction form of cable was oberseved. Afterwards, numerical simulation was conducted using fine modle in order to contrast with the experiment. Finally, the most susceptible mechanical properties was proposed.Temperature response analysis of tension dome structure based on properties of tension components was conducted. Based on the actual stress state of cable, three theoretical calculation methods of thermal expansion coefficient of cable were proposed according to variable states, and Matlab program was write using for calculation. Besides, parametric analysis was presented on account of variable paramters of cable. Then the thermal expansion coefficient was calculated take advantage of fine model based on the cable used in constituitive relation experiment. After that, the theoretical calculation methods of cable were verified by established fine model and theoretical models.In the end, research results are summarized and some conclusions are drawn. Some questions need to be deeply studied and prospects of the paper's significance are also proposed.
