The Application Of Method Of Work Study On The Production Of The LNG Carrier Cargo Containment System

As the requirement of building period is increasingly enhanced by the market, how to shorten the building period of LNG carriers, especially to shorten the period of cargo containment system counts a lot in competing for new orders in the fierce situation of ship markets, and also it weighs high in gaining estimated economic benefit. Therefore, it is extremely urgent to improve the production of cargo containment system through scientific methods.This paper focuses on the production of cargo containment system for LNG carriers, analyzing its construction difficulties and learning about the research progress and the application of method study technology of cargo containment system for LNG carriers at home and abroad. Faced with the situation of the current building period failing to meet the requirement of the contract, especially the labor resources and low usage of equipments and high production cost during the production of the cargo containment system, Method study technology is thus applied to analyze the production procedure to seek the critical path. And also the resin coating of insulation boxes, fold edge and welding-fitting of invar strakes are considered to study on their procedures, man-machine operation and working hours and to take proper measures to optimize production procedures as to eliminate unnecessary steps and consumptions.This thesis fully applies the technology of work measurements to make the work standards of production workers as to obtain the time for finishing the above mentioned key procedures. This could provide basis to production departments for their scientific management and enhance the standards of production. And also through improving inspection quality to optimize inspection procedure, implementing 5S management to improve the site environment and strengthening equipments repair management to get effective usage of equipments of cargo containment system for LNG carriers, thus to reduce rework to shorten the building period of cargo containment system to bring the production efficiency into a new level.
