The rapid development of Chinese wind power industry has brought new chances and challenges to our wind turbine gearbox manufacturing companies. In order to strive for more market share, they have to upgrade their competitive capacity. The core competitive capacity come from their products, and product development process decides product's performance, quality and so on. So, optimize product development process is the key if we want to upgrade companies' competitive capacity.In the modern information technology environment, more and more new product development modes have appeared. Under these new product development modes, wind turbine gearbox manufacturing companies' product development process have some new traits:(1) Huge process system;(2) Complicated logic between activities;(3) Large amounts of information;(4) Long development cycle. These traits reduce the efficiency of product development process and increase difficulty to optimize the process. In order to solve these problems, we use theories and methods of work flow-net(WF-net) and design structure matrix(DSM) to analyze and optimize the product development process.On the basis of domestic and foreign related research, I have done the following research.First, modeling the product development process which basic on information work flow-net(IWF-net). Using related method to analyze model's structural rationality so that we can find out whether the process can actually operate before it launch.Second, using the data which IWF-net model collect, we can built information DSM model between activities. We can understand the information interaction between activities more clearly through this model.Third, turn the information DSM model into information correlation fuzzy matrix between activities. Divided information correlation between activities into high, medium and low three categories by using clustering.Last, find out activities which relate to high or low categories, and put forward optimized strategies.This paper taking A wind turbine gearbox manufacturing company as an example. Through IWF-net model and related analytical methods, we verified the feasibility of the existing product development processes. After that, we built information DSM model and information correlation fuzzy matrix which depend on the data IWF-net has collected. At last, we find out activities which needed to be optimized through clustering, and put forward optimized strategies.
