Since China’s reform and opening policy, the process of rapid urbanization in China became a "car"-based model, which has a huge impact on urban walking space. Influenced by the walking movement of urban environment, pedestrian streets(area) introduced into our country are becoming an important mean to improve urban environment quality, expanding the recreational space and promote consumer economy; however pedestrian streets(areas) of our country are often built at the expense of the urban traffic convenience. Traffic congestions around trade circle are very common recently. Traffic calming and shared space theory has been introduced for years in our country, but most practicers are lack of consciousness and practice experiences. Therefore, taking the pedestrian priority as principle to study the landscape strategies of shared street, learning from western design theory, and applying it with the realistic condition of China will be a research topic with great value.The main contents can be roughly concluded into six chapters:The first chapter illustrates the research background of shared street, defines the notion of pedestrian-priority commercial street, and indefinite the aim of the object of this research. This article also has summarized the related theories and research situation at home and abroad, and has concludes the issues in recent practice. Proposed the research significance and the goals of this research. The research methods and the basic framework of this article has been made into a brief summary.The second chapter first analyzed the differences of people and cars in scale, speed, visual perception and street function needs. Then based on the analysis, the research proposed the necessary functions of landscape of pedestrian-priority commercial streets. Then the author summarized the related theories of the 4 functions, and studied of 5 cases at home and abroad to make a further analysis.The third chapter based on the conclusions of landscape functions, has taken an investment of shared streets in Chongqing’s important business circle or area, from the 7 aspects of landscape atmosphere, landscape sequence, bottom interface design, architecture interface design, pavement, greening and waterscape, street furniture to analysis and summarizes the characteristics and problems of shared streets construction. Then, the author has taken a deeper analysis on the roots of the problems.The chapter four mainly case studies the pedestrian-priority commercial street of Chongqing Longxing headquarters base, from the 7 aspects of landscape phenomenon construction, sequence, bottom interface design, and takes a deep study of the design strategies from aspects of landscape phenomenon construction, sequence, bottom interface design, architecture interface design, green landscape and water, street furniture.The fifth chapter proposed the three principles of pedestrian-priority commercial street landscape design, which including the reasonable formulation design range, the adaptability of environment and landscape strategies, and the priority of safety function. Then, with the theoretical deduction and case analysis, to summary the pedestrian commercial street landscape design strategies which are suitable to our national conditions.The last chapter discussed and the presented the main achievements and deficiencies of this thesis.
