Abstract:Traffic Calming is a coordinated measures between people and vehicles on the street.Street’s pavement design as an important part of traffic calming has been common practiced in European cities. And it directly affected the image of the city streets and public safety. At present, the rapid development of Chinese cities, and the number of cars soared.The planning and design of city streets is under the guidance of ’car oriented’.These are the result of the intensification of contradictions people and vehicles. Especially in the city center area of people and vehicles shared commercial street is the traffic accident-prone area. So calming pavement in the people and vehicles shared commercial street is applicability and vulnerable. And it’s landscape design can enhance the aesthetic and interesting of the street.Through analyze pavement landscaping’s basic content and functionality, and traffic calming’s definitions and measures.Combined calming with pavement landscaping, analysis the function of calming pavement landscaping. Confirm the service object is pedestrian of calming pavement landscaping on the people and vehicles shared commercial street,with the nature of people and vehicles shared commercial street. Established the notion of pedestrian first.Ultimately presented to research the calming pavement landscaping on the people and vehicles shared commercial street.The calming pavement landscaping on the people and vehicles shared commercial street has a special regional and functional.The aim is to combined traffic calming with pavement landscaping. In order to face the existing problems of people and vehicles shared commercial street, this study proposes four principles,such as priority to pedestrians, traffic calming, information visualization, both functional and aesthetic, etc. Calming pavement landscaping through the paving’s materials, color and scale,with the method like psychological suggestion, visually oriented, increasing resistance to road to guide traffic and decorate streets.Then proposes three implementation guidelines about calming pavement landscaping,such as,clear the road’s features, reasonable road’s section, strengthened street’s pavement design.Calming pavement landscaping has the characteristics of diversity, regional, scale, aesthetic, calming, humane and so on. when we design the calming pavement landscaping of people and vehicles shared commercial street,we should not only taking into account the street calming and aesthetic principles, but also continued the street features and business culture.We should also strengthen the street’s public communication skills, to achieve the aim of calming traffic, beautifying streets, and promote commerce.
