The takeoff and the landing of an aircraft are the most dangerous phases of flight, so the study of takeoff and landing performance is of great importance for aircraft design and safety. Amphibious aircraft is a kind of special seaplane, which can take off and land on both water and land and has the advantages of land airplane and seaplane. For amphibious aircraft, based on the different characteristics of takeoff and landing on land and water, this paper researches the takeoff and landing performance calculation method on the two conditions and develops a set of program to calculate takeoff and landing performance and the corresponding calculation software. The main research content is listed below:(1) The development of amphibious aircraft, and the research content and methods of aircraft takeoff and landing performance are introduced. Since detailed aerodynamic force and engine thrust database are available, the detail method is selected to evaluate the takeoff and landing performance.(2) For takeoff and landing on land, the definitions of some related speeds and distances for amphibious aircraft during takeoff and landing are given firstly, then the airworthiness standards of these speeds are summarized; by researching the dynamic and kinematics characteristic of different segments in takeoff and landing, the calculation formulas for the distance and time of these segments are given, which can be solved by numerical integration method; the calculation flow and program for takeoff and landing performance on land is developed.(3) The differences of takeoff and landing on water and land, especially the differences of stress and motion law, are analyzed and water resistance is introduced in detail; the calculation method for takeoff run distance and time on water is put forward; the calculation flow and program for takeoff and landing performance on water is developed.The research results show that the calculation method developed in this paper can be used to calculate and analyze takeoff and landing performance for amphibious aircraft.
