Rudder is used to control the attitude on almost every flight vehicle, but it will cause the reduction of the invisibility, the increase of weight and the complicated maintenance. In order to improve the aerodynamic performance of the conventional aircraft, the flapless aircraft based on circulation control technology is built and tested.Firstly, the paper briefly introduces the function and the defect of the conventional rudder, the research of the flapless flight test at home and abroad and the application of the circulation-control technology in the aviation field. After that, the circulation control device is designed to substitute for traditional rudder,which can upper and lower blow. The main parameters and the mechanism of action were determined through the study of the flow characteristics analysis.Then, the design of the flapless aircraft is carried out, and the configuration parameters are determined. A wind tunnel experiment is carried out to determine the aerodynamic parameters and the control performance of the aircraft. After that a flapless wing model with the circulation control device buried inside is made, the wind tunnel experiment concludes: at the wind speed of 10 m / s, flapless wing can produce 50 degrees aileron rudder and 10 degrees of lifting rudder effect; The circulation control flapless wing can effectively help change one cruise trim state to another; In addition, the circulation control device has the potential to replace the rudder.Last, the aerodynamic modeling and aerodynamic parameters estimation are carried out, and the experimental data are used to simulate the flight control system. A flight test system is built to verify the practicability of the flapless aircraft. The flight test result shows that the circulation control device can effectively replace the rudder to control the attitude of the aircraft.
