The paper proposed a digital excitation control system designed for the novel Hybrid-Excitation Synchronous Generator(HESG), which is widely applied in the median & small scale Separate Power Supply Systems. The importance of the research on the hybrid-excitation synchronous generating technology is demonstrated, and its principle, the excitation control part and supervisory part is deeply studied.At first, the unload & load curves will be gained based on the deeply analyzing of HESG's basic principle. After this, combining the new assumed conditions, the basic voltage and magnetism chain equations can be derived, built in the 3 phase static coordinate and the rotate d-q coordinate. Therefore, the corresponding mathematics model and simple equivalence circuit were set up, and has offered the essential theoretical foundation for research, design of the control system of the excitation.And then, the transfer function of this system will be gained based on the analyzing of the generator system, including the supervisory part. However, neither this model nor the transfer function is accurate because of the complex electromagnetic relationship in the machine. Due to the complicated structure and the dual output power windings, there is too much electromagnetic coupling. So it is difficult to build an accurate model by calculating the machine's parameters. It is well known that the Fuzzy Logic Control method can ignore the accuracy of the controlled object's model, so we can introduce FLC to this excitation system. Thus the simulation model of fuzzy controlling excitation and the HESG system is built based on using the PSB, F1S and Fuzzy Logic Toolbox etc in Matlab. At last, the hardware and software design for the whole power system is completed based on the 80C196K.C, and the perfect protect functions are added according to the system needs. The results of simulation and experimentation prove that the proposed fuzzy controlling excitation system is feasible and practical, and the protect parts work in time. Meanwhile, other intelligent control strategy applied problem in this system is discussed, such as adaptive fuzzy PID control, fuzzy neural network etc, establishing a foundation for deep research.
