Maintenance is an important inherent attribute when product was designed. For civil aircraft, the maintenance accessibility, which could reduce markedly the life cycle cost of the product, is a significant part of the maintainability design. The method of virtual repair, which analyses the aircraft maintenance accessibility, is proposed to solve the deficiency of the traditional aircraft maintenance analysis.Maintenance accessibility is divided into three parts for the analysis, which are visual accessibility, physical accessibility and operation accessibility. The evaluation criterion of the three parts is proposed. And the evaluation model of maintenance accessibility analysis is constructed and assessed by AHP.The detailed study of the three parts is elaborated on the basis of the second chapter. The method of visual cone analysis based on transformation of coordinate is proposed to solve the problem of the traditional method. The hybrid algorithm based on spatial decomposition and BVH tests the collision between the tools and components in the maintenance process.Synthesizing the study of anthropometry, human physiology and maintainability design,operation accessibility is studied and verified by the working space ratio and RULA. All the above researches have been verified by examples.Finally, the virtual maintenance scene and maintenance equipment models are constructed. The maintenance accessibility of the engine CFM-56-3B-1 in B737-500 is evaluated synthetically by the maintenance accessibility evaluation model and AHP.
