The aircraft skin is an important part of the body to withstand the outside effects.Due to the particularity of the complexity of the force and working environment makes the aircraft skin prone to injury. Therefore, nondestructive testing of aircraft skin plays an important role in the safety of aircraft maintenance. Currently, the new composite materials in aircraft skin in large-scale use made new demands for non-destructive testing of aircraft skin. Application of ultrasonic phased array technology in the industrial field has become a hot spot in the world, this technology can realize the dynamic focusing and deflection, the scan results visualization, high detection efficiency compared with the traditional nondestructive testing technology has incomparable advantages. Research on ultrasonic phased array technology in new composite material aircraft skin detection is important.Based on the characteristics of aircraft skin damage and common advantages of phased array ultrasonic testing, the complete testing program is designed, through a combination of theoretical analysis and experimental to study the method of ultrasonic phased array inspection of aircraft skin. New problem needs new method,verify the feasibility and high efficiency of ultrasonic phased array inspection of aircraft skin by calculation, simulation and actual test has an important influence on the development of aircraft safety inspection. First, the sound field characteristic of ultrasound to determine the appropriate probe, the optimal parameters are obtained through calculation and simulation. Second, choose a reasonable detection method by analyzing the characteristics of each type of scan and detection methods. Then,through the composite materials standard test block test to validate the rationality of the design. Finally, the actual aircraft skin testing proved that the design achieves the desired detection and using ultrasonic phased array technology to detect new type of aircraft skin damage.
