In the modern wars, the hidden snipers and the terrorist attack have become great threats to the security of the allied combatants. The problems also have become more and more important in the terrorism peacekeeping, anti-drug battle and the national peace and stability. With the development of modern acoustic sensor technology, analog and digital circuit technology of low energy and embedded system technology, there will be a quick and effective way to solve the location of gunfire.In this system, the hardware platform is designed based on the study of the principle of gun location. A tetrahedral acoustic array is designed to collect the sound of guns. A reverse amplifier circuit and a twelve-order filter circuit are designed to condition the signal. The module of AD7606 is designed to convert the analog signal to digital signal. The minimum system of TMS320F2812 is designed to solve the algorithm of location of gunfire. The display module of 12864 is designed to display the information of the position and distance of the gun.The algorithm of location of gunfire is studied. For the detection of gunfire, the detection algorithm based on the signal-to-noise ratio and zero crossing rate is present to detect the gunfire. For the time delay estimation of gunfire, the detection algorithm based on adaptive regulation of signal-to-noise ratio for time delay estimation is present to estimate the time delay of gunfire in the situation of different signal-to-noise ratios correctly. For the recognition of gunfire, the recognition algorithm based on FFT is present to recognize muzzle blast wave and shock wave correctly. For the direction confirm, the algorithm of direction confirm based on equilateral triangle and regular tetrahedral is present to confirm the direction of gunfire. For the distance confirm, the algorithm of distance confirm based on the azimuth difference between muzzle blast wave and shock wave is present to confirm the distance of gunfire. All algorithms present improve the system.Finally, the system of gunfire is field tested with a gun. It proves the reliability of the hardware and the feasibility of the algorithm during the test. The information of direction and distance of gunfire displayed is roughly accurate as expected.
