As the foundation of the high-speed train,the steel rail ensures trains run safely.It is vital to measure the wear of steel rail.The very fast speed of high-speed train and the dramatic increase in passengers give greater pressure on the steel rail,so that it will be worn much heavily and seriously.When that bad wear happens,the contact area between the rail's surface and the vehicle wheels have become smaller than the normal situation.It will make the train cannot run steadily and let passengers uncomfortable.Actually,there is an inclination angle between the rail and horizontal plane,which the workers have to ensure it would be in an appropriate range.If the angle is much bigger,cracks possibly happen.The first-generation instrument has been presented.It has adopted the theory of optical and image processing.But it only can compute the wear of the rail and it was put on the surface of the rail so that its sway will effects the testing of wear.According to the request of China Railway,the whole outline of the rail were hoped to be seen.Then the shape of the instrument,the internal structure and the software system have been improved.The thesis will shows those improved functions in detail.Firstly,this thesis shows some methods about measuring the wear.And then,it have introduced the hardware and software system of the improved instrument and the theory of measuring the wear.It has referred to some important techniques,laser lock-in image,image calibration,image recovering,and a new method computing wear.Secondly,it gives account of the detail way on new method to compute wear.In onecamera-system,the program gets the value of wear by finding the standard point on the rail.Another camera has to be added on the other side of the rail to get the whole outline of a rail.The new method uses the arc of the non-work side of steel rail to get the wear.And on this basis,the thesis presents how to get the rail corrugation.At last,this thesis elaborates the procedure of taking the rail cant which is a critical parameters.The program which computes the rail cant could be read some data from an angle sensor and turn it to decimal by serial of communications.
