In the actual operation process,electric power equipment coupled with the long hours and under the influence of natural environment is easy to have a equipment aging, wear and performance degradation and many other problems, which lead to increasing the probability of failure. Seriously, even affect the normal and safe operation of power system. So it’s urgent for power equipment to carry out the monitoring work. In order to promote the construction of modern power system become digital and networked, after a scientific and effective demonstration analysis,State Grid corporation put forward the development plan of "smart grid" in 2009. Considering substation as an important part of power system construction, the construction of the on-line monitoring system plays an important role in the implementation of the scheduling control and production management for the "smart grid". As modern technology of sensor, computer, electronics, digital signal processing and communications developing rapid, it’s provides the opportunity to realize on-line monitoring, and it is also the inevitable trend of electric power system. Substation is a key component of power system and plays an important role in power system. Therefore, it is necessary to consider how to realize on-line monitoring of substation. At present, we take the combination of traditional pattern in view of the substation equipment, although the model plays an important role in reducing the happening of the substation equipment fault, the traditional maintenance mode has not adapted to the current demand with the expansion of power grid. Therefore, the on-line monitoring system for intelligent substation based on equipment condition,and various parameters, can timely find potential failure to fast repair, which has important significance for safe and reliable operation of a smart grid.The current study of on-line monitoring system for intelligent substation in our country is still in its infancy, although we have certain research zbout the modeling of on-line monitoring system, the specification of the on-line monitoring system for substation construction is just enacted and the lack of experience, making the function is not perfect. Although in view of the on-line monitoring system for substation carried out research, because of the lack of CMU test tools, preventing IEC test and management achieve automation. Observing the current research of on-line monitoring system for substation is proposed, we put forward test method for the comprehensive monitoring unit and construct test platform. The model, test method and the test platform provide the theoretical support and reference for the construction of on-line monitoring system for substation.
