With the development of computer and science technology,media teaching method has been widely used in university teaching classes.Recently years,the department of the education administration has paid highly attention on university media teaching method.At the same time,the rate of classes of media teaching has also been regarded as one of standard of evaluating higher education system.So far,two kinds of assisted teaching methods are widely used:first,simulator assisted teaching;Second,multi-media teaching.Ship Maneuvering is one of the most important subjects in navigation,the propeller effect on turning which contains in it has the character of complicated,abstract and involving sums of basic knowledge.Since our students do not have enough navigation experience,they have difficulties in understanding theory and absent of effects.In this paper,it focus on using multi-media and simulation as assistance to improve effects of classes and get the point of ensuring teaching quality.The paper bases on the research from home and aboard of teaching method of the propeller effect on turning and the operation and design of using multi-media as assistance,making the students as central as the teaching design method,finally pick up the method of involving students in the design process in order to fulfill the principle and steps.Analyze the fall model,quick model,propeller model-four software developing characters,combining with multi-media,teaching function and student-oriented design thoughts.In order to understand screw deflection effect contents in the ship maneuvering,it is vital to analysis Principles of Natural Philosophy systematically,calculate of the ship model transverse force quantitatively.In this paper,a method is present to calculate the screw transverse force based on thrust force coefficient with four quadrants through radial basis function.Applying fall-increase multi-media developing model to fulfill the media design and simulation of propeller effect on turning.Using flash and other assist software to make flash to help the student to understand abstract knowledge.This multi-media developing and Simulation method can be reference of other navigation subjects as the effective tool of teaching navigation.
