The vector network analyzer accurately characterizes the device by measuring the power and phase response of the device under frequency sweep.For vector network analyzers,the accuracy of the measurement depends largely on the accuracy of the error calibration process.Due to the non-linearity of the mixer,the traditional S-parameter measurement for linear devices and the calibration method of the vector network analyzer are not applicable.This paper studies the power calibration and phase calibration of the vector network analyzer.The calibration algorithm can accurately measure the input power,output power,loss and group delay of the DUT.In this paper,the internal error term of the vector network analyzer is analyzed in detail,and the power calibration and phase calibration error model of the vector network analyzer is deduced to realize the power calibration and phase calibration.The main contents of the paper are divided into the following parts:(1)This paper briefly introduces the structure,working principle and system error of the vector network analyzer,introduces the importance of the power and phase calibration of the vector network analyzer,and the characteristics of the mixer and the difficulty of measurement.(2)This paper analyzes the physical meaning of each error term in the power calibration error model of the vector network analyzer,and calculates the partial error term through the double port calibration.The power calibration process is divided into source power calibration and receiver calibration,through the calibration can be measured port to achieve accurate input power and output power measurement.In this paper,we derive the theoretical formula of source power calibration and receiver calibration in detail,and then use the ads software to verify the source power calibration and the receiver calibration process.Finally,the gain measurement of the amplifier is used to verify the correctness of the calibration.(3)This paper introduces the principle of continuous phase change of the output signal of the vector network analyzer,and the principle of the phase-coherent receiver and phase stitching of the vector network analyzer.The vector network analyzer can achieve single-receiver phase measurement on the basis of the phase-coherent receiver and phase stitching.According to the phase calibration error model,the theoretical formula of phase calibration is deduced,and then the implementation of phase calibration is verified by using ads software.Finally,the application of simulation power calibration and phase calibration in mixer measurement is analyzed,and the results of simulation are analyzed.
