Study On The Regionalization Of Urban Street Lamp Design

With the change of people's living habit,people have more and more night life,the demand of people for night lighting facilities is becoming more and more urgent,therefore,in recent years,Chinese lighting construction projects have been developed a lot.Street lamp is now not only for illumination but also for aesthetics;therefore,beauty is one more thing to be pursued based on the"light".Nowadays,urban street lamp has became one necessary part of the urban public image which is used to present people the local geography and features like a mirror.The government also expects to use the urban street lamp to show the regional specialty to beautify the city image.Anyway,the urban street lamp really has a big influence to the city;with the great efforts of all the designers from one generation to another,we have achieved rapid development and also plenty of fabulous designs which brings life and energy to the city,create a strong cultural atmosphere.Although we have accomplished such great improvement on the design of urban street lamp,there are still lots of issues such as similar design;lack of creations,lack of expression of regional features etc.which are caused of design with less considerations,ability difference of designers,lack of marketing guidelines,lack of knowledge of regional features etc.This thesis targets at the problem of homogenization in the street lamp design,analyze with the three expression dimensions of region to find the key to homogenization---regional features of design elements.The writer collected 100 kinds of urban street lighting design cases which have good quality with regional characteristics in China.Based on the relevant knowledge of geography,it is divided into 3 kinds of street lamp designs,including presenting regional physical geography,showing regional historical context and highlighting regional folk culture.Through in-depth analysis of a large number of cases,a set of regional characteristics of street lighting design theory has been formed to enrich the design of urban street lamps in China.It not only helps the city street lighting designer to find the appropriate city and regional elements;it also have a better design on the street lights with the urban regional characteristics.Finally,the writer applies the theory to the practice and designs a city street lamp with Luoyang characteristics.The first part of this thesis is mainly the description about street lamp including the definition,history,and classifications,as well as clarified the study object-expressive street lamp;besides,followed with the depiction of style,color,and material for the preparation of the following case analysis.The second part of this thesis will discuss the factors which make the different street lamp-regional.Regional nature is characterized by the characteristics of natural geography,historical and cultural characteristics,with the analysis and description for the relationship among these three factors,the importance of regional to street lamp is more obvious.The third part is about case study for lots of urban street lamp examples.Based on the difference of regional features and sources of the symbol of design,we can divide the expressive street lamp into 3 categories,and then with the analysis of the trend for the symbol to figure out the methods of extracting the elements,design strategy,design process,and other things.Through the 100 street lamp design case according to its element symbol source classification statistics,comparative study of the tendency of symbolic sources.The fourth part of the main combination of the case with a regional street lamp design ideas.
