Tuned mass damper as an effective passive control method, has been widely used because of some advantages such as simple structure,low cost and easy maintenance. TMD is a device consisting of a mass,a spring and a damper. The design parameters of TMD determine the control effect. Some improvement methods are proposed in this thesis for the optimal design parameters of TMD.The major research work of this thesis is as follow:1) This thesis introduces the traditional method of solving the TMD optimum design parameters,and analyzes how the angle between TMD and structure works on the control effect. The optimal design theoretical parameters of TMD and the equivalent damping ration is modified in this thesis.2) The TMD system simplified model is presented considering the SSI effect. Propose a simple and practical numerical optimization design method for SSI-TMD system based on SOA algorithm. The numeral simulation analysis was done. The analysis result indicates this TMD numerical optimization method is very effective.3) Bending shear structure is simplified into a continuous Timoshenko cantilever beam model. This model not only can simulate the structural lateral displacement better but also can consider the influence of TMD dynamic characteristics by the bending angle. Optimal design of TMD based on the stochastic inertia weight particle swarm algorithm, with the structural displacement response variance as the goal. This method added the optimization of TMD mass ratio. The analysis result proves the necessity of the consideration of structure bending deformation when designing TMD, and verifies the effectiveness of the method.4) Bending structure is simplified into a continuous Euler cantilever beam model. The structure characteristic matrix is solved by the finite element method. The equation of TMD system is given in this thesis,and using Newmark-? method to solve it. The TMD system reliability analysis is done based on the first time excess destruction criterion. Optimal design of TMD based on the particle swarm algorithm. The numeral simulation analysis result indicates TMD can increase reliability of structure.5) This thesis proposes a simple and practical performance-based numerical optimization design method for TMD damping system. Frame shear structure is simplified into a continuous cantilever beam with lumped parameter model, and structural natural vibration characteristics were analyzed by using Rayleigh-Ritz method. Optimal design of TMD based on the genetic algorithm, with the structural displacement response as the goal, with the structural story drift as constraint.
